We used to be able to watch an hour of TV without feeling the need to check the IMDb page of every ‘Man On Bench 1’ in the background. And there was a time (we think) when we could sit for 20 minutes with a book. Now, we have to put our phones on Do Not Disturb and turn off our wifi if we want to do something as simple as writing this paragraph. Orsa & Winston, in DTLA, is another thing that’s been neglected by our short attention span. And that’s a thing that needs to change.
Orsa & Winston is the more formal spot from the guy behind Bar Amy, Baco Mercat, and PYT. If you’re the kind of person who keeps up with new restaurants, you might have had your fancy birthday dinner here in 2013, told everyone you knew how fantastic it was, and then moved onto the next spot. It seems to us like a lot of people did.
But as it turns out, Orsa & Winston has only gotten better. The food is still kind-of Italian, mostly Japanese, but they now serve more casual food during the day as well as their tasting menu at dinner. And for reasons extremely unclear to us, there’s also never more than a handful of people in the place at any time of day.
